BOMBORA BOMBORA SWIMWEAR

In the spring of 2015, while living in Las Vegas, NV, I launched a swimwear brand called BOMBORA BOMBORA. The line was inspired by old Hollywood glamour, 1940s–1950s resort wear, tiki culture, and all things tropical. From 2015 to 2020, I developed the brand while also working full-time and freelancing as a costume and fashion designer in both Las Vegas and Los Angeles. As my design work picked up, I transitioned BOMBORA BOMBORA to a made-to-order model, offering select styles to accommodate my growing schedule.

My former brand was featured in numerous magazines and blogs, and worn by people all over the world—but at its core, it was always a very small, hands-on business. I personally designed and handmade every piece I sold, and truly loved the process of building and growing it.

In recent years, I’ve thought often about relaunching the brand in some capacity. But with the impact of COVID and the ongoing volatility in the fashion industry, I’ve chosen to keep things small and intentional—for now.

I'm currently in the process of updating my portfolio—something I haven’t done in a long time—and wanted to share a few mood boards from the early concept phase of my brand. I’d love to hear your thoughts!

I LOVE DESIGNING RESORTWEAR 🌴🌺🍹

Designing womenswear—especially resort wear—is one of my greatest passions. This floral ruffle crop top and skirt set was one of my favorite designs from my former resort wear brand (active through 2020).

ALL my favorite looks on Enid from GHOST WORLD - One of my favorite films!

I saw this for the first time via DVD rentals thru Netflix back in 2009 while I was in College. I try and watch it every year as it never gets old. A film about youth. Female Angst. Quirkiness. Dark wit. Embracing your weirdness. It really is pure art in film though. The costume designer Mary Zophres nailed it. Every outfit, every detail. The creepers, the raptor t-shirt (still looking for one!) the cat eye glasses, sailor dress - the mix of fashion and costume pieces in so many of her looks are pure magic! One of the best adaptations of a graphic novel to film in my opinion. I actually started wearing cat eye glasses because of Enid. Forever my style icon. Thrift queen, vintage lover and just way ahead of her time in my opinion in terms of anti-fashion style. Everything happening at the same time, no rules. Please go enjoy this film and let me know what you think! Its streaming right now on Tubi!

Full Wardrobe Breakdown in my next post! Rewatching the film right now as I type this!
